Status on development

I want to know the status of several features that were promised (even announced) and have not been implemented.

For example, the address book, which according to Canny was in progress in October 2022 and announced in the Coinpanda V3 blog post on February 2023, with an ETA March 2023. Still not implemented.

Without this, the “multiple address per wallet” feature is pretty useless for me, because I can’t tag an address (for example this is my “long term wallet” or this is my “defi wallet”). And if you have mutliple wallets, just by looking at the address is not easy to tell which is which. So it gets easier if you each address separately, each chain separately, which means you end up with 100+ different wallets.

Or the request “track different chains in a single wallet” which just means that when adding an EVM wallet, do activity check to see in which other EVM chains this address is active, and allow to add them all at once.

This was requested on February 2022 and marked in progress by Elvind on July 2022 but didn’t make the cut for Coinpanda V3 and still no word about this feature that, while not a deal breaker, it is very nice to have in a world with multiple layer 2s.

Same with a lot of blockchains that are marked in “beta” for API Sync inside Coinpanda, such as Ark or Starknet, that were being worked on at some point but apparently not anymore. At least remove them from the app, instead of making users ask on the live chat for beta access, only to be told that there is nothing to give access to because nobody is working on them. Because at least for me, beta means that there is a working product that already went through alpha, tested by developers, and ready to be tested by users to report potential bugs.

Furthermore, it seems to me that Coinpanda is very slow in calculations, making me think that there is a lot that needs to be optimized on the back end.

At the end, I really would want to know what to expect. Is Coinpanda still being developed? Are there enough resources for everything that is planned and also to keep up with the fast developments in the crypto space?

Hi there,

A lot of different things are in development at any given time, and their priority can also change. There are lots of different parameters to consider, though user feedback weighs in heavily to determine what gets done first.

For example, the ability to rename/tag individual addresses was not completed, but we also didn’t receive a single user message about this so it got pushed back to prioritize other things.

API integrations in Beta will eventually be finished, but it wont always be possible to import transactions during development. Whether or not a particular chain is prioritized or put on hold also depends on demand, since we ultimately aim to support as many people as possible, as quickly as possible.

Regarding calculation speed, this simply depends on how many transactions you have, but the system is always being optimized.

Personally, I think we have kept up quite nicely with API integrations, and we were the first to support several chains. A lot of people also came to us for better DeFi support, such as multi-asset liquidity or NFT transactions.

With so many chains in existence, there might always be something we don’t yet support. For that reason we give everyone unrestricted access to all of our API integrations without requiring any purchase, so they can see exactly what is available at a given time.

I understand it’s disappointing or frustrating when a particular function you need is not in active development as a high priority, but I relay all concerns to the lead dev, and they will at least consider adjusting priorities in response.

Thanks you for your answer Ruben. I am aware that priorities can change and things might get pushed back.

Also, as you say Coinpanda has kept up with API integrations and as far as I can tell, it is the industry leader in this regard, which is a big plus. Also, you’ve done great supporting a lot of DeFi protocols out of the box (plus comprehensive NFTs on different chains). And the support that Coinpanda provides is the best in the industry by far. You guys really go the extra mile supporting users. No competitor comes even close.

But there are also a lot of things about Coinpanda that need to be polished / optimized / improved upon and it would be nice to have some visibility of what the current focus is with regards to development.

For that the canny (feedback site) would help, if that was actually used. It would help your devs not only prioritize better, but also help users to see what’s in the works. But it is what it is. The tools are there, if people are not using them there is litlte you can do about that.

I also wish to see more regular “Software Updates & Fixes” posts in this forum, last one was on 2021 (apart from the 2022 post regarding the app). Those don’t have to be long, and could just be a few words about the things that got updated or improved.

I guess I also wanted to have the reassurance that the resources are there and that we can expect to see Coinpanda keep evolving and growing in the future.
